Adult Services
Community Outreach
The demand for CLD's services is high. When we are delayed in meeting a person's or family's long term needs, we offer short term, interim assistance. Employment support, behavioural management and social connections are a sampling of what CLD provides.
Options, Learning & Leisure Program
Developing new leisure skills is an important part of enjoying life in our community. CLD offers a variety of flexible leisure and recreational activities. Adults with developmental disabilities and students who are leaving school may participate on a full or part time basis. CLD offers programs on its premises and within the community. Opportunities range from swimming and horseback riding to crafts, woodworking, music and the Click Connect Photography Club. Two particularly popular initiatives are Joyful Voices, an inclusive choir and Creative Partners on Stage; a drama program created in partnership with Theatre Orangeville. Participants look forward to creating magic with a yearly on- stage production. Anyone interested in singing and/or performing at community functions is welcome.
Employment Plus
Effective job coaching can enable people with developmental disabilities achieve their employment potential. CLD assists people with disabilities so they develop good working habits, improve their social skills and increase their productivity. With CLD's assistance, participants set employment plans. Furthermore, CLD makes arrangements with employers who provide both paid and voluntary jobs and on-the-job training. Staff also helps people connect with and maintain voluntary positions as another possible work option.
QPAC
QPAC (Quality, Packaging, Assembly, Custom) is an in house company that offers employment to people who wish to learn transferrable skills. Community businesses contract with QPAC to provide employees with a wide range of challenging work.
Community Behavioural Services
Family and caregivers of adults with developmental disabilities often request behaviour therapy. CLD administers this program which provides parents with funding upon approval and a list of professionals who support individuals with Developmental Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorders. These professional service providers assist families in dealing with behavioral concerns with their son/daughter within the home. Paid for by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, this is a short term program (about six sessions).
Summer Opportunities
Integration counselors assist campers (aged 4 - 14) to fully integrate into a summer camp of their choice. Each child is provided with one on one assistance which allows them to partake in activities to the best of their ability.
